St. Nicholas is one of the oldest preserved churches in Kaliningrad. The foundation stone was laid in year 1255 and the inauguration took place within few decades. However, primarily in the 14th century the church was expanded.

The church survived World War II but deteriorated during the following decades due to lack of usage and maintenance. I the 1980’s the church was returned to the Russian orthodox church who carried out a renovation up till 1990.
